Rebecca Birch

Registered Manager (Manchester)

My Story

Rebecca has over 13 years’ experience within the care industry. After caring for a family member for many years, Rebecca knew that she wanted to help others and chose to become a care worker.  She supported and cared for individuals in their own homes with a wide variety of health conditions, then gained the qualifications necessary to progress to the role of Community Care Supervisor, working throughout the North West. In this role, Rebecca was responsible for developing new and potential clients, carrying out care assessments and health and safety risk assessments, creating support plans to meet the needs of the individual, conducting audits, mentoring new carers, and working alongside the Care Quality Commission to ensure compliance with standards.

After a few years Rebecca gained a position as a Branch Manager, where she was responsible for ensuring the branch was compliant with all legislation and regulations in health and social care. This built on Rebecca’s knowledge and expertise in CQC regulations, the Care Act and employment law.  Subsequently, she progressed to a Care Manager’s role, where she managed a large team of support workers and used her expertise in compliance to gain a Good CQC inspection report.

In April 2018, Rebecca joined the Westwood team as part of the Senior Management Team.  This role has enabled Rebecca to increase her knowledge and gain qualifications in the training and development of care workers. Consequently, Rebecca has successfully trained and assisted new care workers with their own professional development.  Rebecca is passionate about ensuring every care worker has the knowledge and training they need to provide the best service to our service users and we are very proud of our new Westwood Training Academy, where care workers can gain and develop their qualifications. Rebecca was integral in developing our academy and in gaining accreditation, so that we can certify the training that is delivered is to the highest of standards.

“I am dedicated to the care industry and strive to improve the standards and level of care individuals receive in their own homes.”
