About Us
WHC was established in 2013, primarily as a Domiciliary Homecare service, providing personalised and client-centred care In the Manchester Area. The Company quickly gained a reputation amongst its clients due to the quality of care provided and the business grew through referrals.
The Company was managed on behalf of the Shareholders by its Registered Manager for the first four years of trading, until her eventual retirement. Following her retirement, the Company was in need of some rejuvenation to align with the Director’s aspirations for the Company. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at recruiting the right Management Team for the Company, the Director and the Board decided to take a more ‘hands-on’ role in the running of the Company and Service. Over a period of approximately 6 months, the Director familiarised herself with all aspects of the Company: meeting clients; shadowing and meeting with staff; dealing with Local Authorities; managing the Finance Department; and even delivering care in the field! These experiences provided the Director with insight into what was required in the care industry, how we could improve ourselves, and what was required to take the Company forward.
In March 2018, the Non-Executive Board Member brought in and appointed the current Management Team. It was decided that the day-to-day Management of the Company would be handled by an experienced and competent team of Managers (including the Director), each responsible for their own departments. Each team member was qualified enough to be a Registered Manager in their own right, and one of our Managers was even voted Registered Manager of the Year!
Each member of the team was carefully selected to provide the best, compassionate, professional, dependable and flexible service to all our Clients. This shared approach to management ensures that no part of the business is neglected and the Company is able to grow at a sustained and manageable rate, without compromising on quality. You can read more about the Management Team in the ‘Management Team’ section of the website.
Once the new team was appointed, they immediately went to work overhauling the company from top to bottom, including introducing fresh policies and procedures, digitalising key aspects of the business, introducing new computer systems and a Company rebrand.
Since 2018 the Company was gone through rapid expansion, delivering thousands of care hours per week and within a year, we have opened three further branches in Farnworth, Bolton, in Heald Green, Stockport and in Liverpool. We deliver care privately to private individuals and also work with Local Authorities, Social Services and the NHS. We have gained an excellent reputation in the area of ‘End of Life Care’, working with families to make our clients’ last days as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Families of bereaved clients often commend us and applaud the service that we provided during one of the most traumatic times of a person’s life.
Our experience and research led us to recognise flaws in current methods of training for carers, such as knowledge of theory and a lack of ‘hands-on’ training available. Consequently, WHC set up its own Training Academy, where we are able to offer high quality in-house training. We have designed a Training Academy with real props such as beds, chairs, kitchens, bathrooms etc. to simulate real life scenarios that carers are likely to experience in the field. We provide accredited courses and our carers are able to work towards the Care Certificate. This ensures that our Carers are up-skilled and that our clients are kept safe at all times.
Furthermore, our Training Academy enables us to work in the community to assist people who are unemployed or looking for a career in the care industry, providing a clear and simple entry into the profession. Our Academy is not just open to WHC’s Carers but Carers from other companies, to ensure that their staff is up to date with regulations and modern practices, as the industry is constantly evolving. Westwood Homecare prides itself on its work in the community and our team regularly go and speak to people in the local community, hold open days and have roadshows at local Fairs in order to engage. We are proud of our support and association with ‘Feed My City’ which provides free, warm meals and meal packs to the neediest in the Community and the service attends both our Manchester and Bolton office once a week.
Our company is built on the strongest foundations and a team with a combined experience of 80 years in the Health and Social Care Industry. We provide bespoke, specialist home care in Manchester, Stockport, Bolton and surrounding areas, ranging from 30 minutes to 24-hour care.
We are proud of our values, which are:
-
Trust & Respect

Care & Compassion
-
